Samoan Tattoo, Sulu'Ape family

First presentation of the hand-tap, there is different size and its was made with a comb, a shell plate (from turtle) and a wooden handle. Now they replaced sometimes the shell plate with plastic or metal:


Second presentation, the artist. Not anybody, but the Master of Samoa Tattoo, Sulu'Ape Alaivaa Petelo:

The family have a shop in Apia.


A part of the Pe'a, traditionnal samoan tatau, mid of back to the knees. It's around a week of process, 6h a day, that's made you a man after all!
